Monster Hunter Rise Crossplay and Cross-Save Explained

At a glance

Rise supports PS4–PS5 multiplayer and Xbox–Windows Store multiplayer. Switch, Steam and the other platform families cannot play together.

Which platforms can play together?

Platform combination Multiplayer
PS4 ↔ PS5 Supported
Xbox One ↔ Xbox Series X/S ↔ Windows 10/11 Store version Supported
Nintendo Switch ↔ Steam, PlayStation, Xbox or Windows Store Not supported
Steam ↔ Windows Store version Not supported
PlayStation ↔ Xbox/Windows family Not supported

The two PC storefront versions are different multiplayer ecosystems. Check the store version your friends own before buying a copy to join them.

Can you transfer your save?

Save support is separate from multiplayer support. The PlayStation versions provide a PS4-to-PS5 save transfer, while Xbox Play Anywhere supports shared progress between its Xbox and Windows versions.

These exceptions do not allow Switch-to-Steam transfers or universal, two-way save sharing across all versions.

Why a Lobby ID does not help

A Lobby ID locates a room within a compatible platform ecosystem. It does not connect separate ecosystems. Check the table before troubleshooting the room code.

These are Monster Hunter Rise platform combinations; crossplay features from other Monster Hunter games do not apply here.
